Yoshida Seiichi was a Japanese literary historian and professor whose surveys of modern Japanese literature are standard references in Japanese literary studies. His multivolume history of modern Japanese fiction and his studies of individual writers established the critical framework through which the Meiji-Showa period is understood within Japan.
