Elizabeth Bishop was an American poet known for her precisely observed descriptions of the physical world and her restrained treatment of personal subjects. She published only four collections in her lifetime but is now considered one of the greatest American poets. She received the Pulitzer Prize for Poems: North & South — A Cold Spring.
